Football: Bobcats Fall To Elkers (10/05/19)

The Clarion Area Bobcats fell to the homestanding Ridgway Elkers, 42-0, on Friday (October 4th).

Elker quarterback Paul Gresco scored on a 1 yard run at 10:52 of the first quarter and with the PAT Ridgway led 7-0.

Clarion moved deep into Elker territory, later in the quarter, but was stopped on 4th and goal from the six at 5:37.

At 11:57 of the second quarter Gabe Watts scored on a 1 Yard run. The kick was good and Ridgway was up 14-0.

Clarion was stopped on downs at the Ridgway 28 yard line at 9:18.                

Ridgway would score twice more in the half. Watts had a 3 yard touchdown run at 6:44, followed by a 34 yard touchdown pass from Gresco to Matt Dush, at 2:39. The kick was good after each touchdown and the Elkers led 28-0 at the half.

Elker running back Jake Wickett scored on a 30 yard run, with 10:08 left in the third and with the successful PAT, the Elkers moved out to a 35-0 lead. Wickett would score again, carrying the ball in from 19 yards out, with 4:42 remaining in the game. The kick again was good and the 42-0 final was set.

A couple of Bobcats, who had good nights on offense, were Colton Zacherl and Cutter Boggess. Zacherl had 18 carries for 110 yards. Boggess ran 10 times for 81 yards and had three receptions for 68 yards.

Wickett led Ridgway with 10 carries for 150 yards. Gresco completed 8 of ten passes for 130 yards. Dush ran twice for 82 yards and had 4 receptions for 82 yards.

The Bobcats are now 6-1 and will face Bradford at Memorial Field, next Friday (October 11th), which is Homecoming for Clarion Area.
