Bobcat Junior High Wrestlers Win Their Own Tournament (12/17/19)

The Clarion Junior High Wrestling Team won the 27th Annual Clarion Junior High Wrestling Tournament, on Saturday, December 14th. Thirteen teams competed in this year’s event.

Following the Bobcats, in the trophy race were Curwensville in second and Port Allegany in third.

Coach Lee Weber shared this summary about his team’s day:

With so many inexperience kids, I did not expect a first place finish.  Many of the inexperienced wrestlers won just by grinding it out!  So proud of them!  

We had three finalists Derek Smail 3-1, Joshua Beal 3-1, and Mason Gourley 5-0. 

Mason dominated his weight class by not giving up a point!  I just want to thank Coach Joel Rosko and Randy Cathcart for their work with getting the kids ready for this tournament. 

We had one champion.  Usually with only one champion, a team would not win the tournament.  We won the tournament because 13 out of our 16 wrestlers finished in the top 4 places!  That was team balance!
