Donovan Edmonds And Cutter Boggess Place At Fred Bell Tournament (01/27/20)

The Clarion Area Wrestling Team competed at the Fred Bell Tournament at Grove City College on Friday and Saturday, January 24th and 25th, with two Bobcats coming away with medals.

Donovan Edmonds placed fifth in the 160 pound division and Cutter Boggess finished sixth at 170.

Donovan opened with a 6-1 win over Azady Tachmuhammedor from Moon Area, in Championship Round 1. He fell to Josh Anderson from Conneaut Area 5-0 in Championship Round 2.

Moving to the Consolation Rounds, Donovan recorded four straight wins. In Consolation Round 2, He defeated Daniel Wry from Cranberry 7-2. In Consy Round 3 he pinned Logan Smith from Glendale, in 2:27. He followed that with another fall in Consy Round 4, where he was victorious over Dylan Wanner from West Middlesex at 5:00.

Donovan’s next win was a 14-6 Major Decision, in the Consolation Quarterfinals, over Falconer-Cassadaga Valley’s Mack Mikula.

Donovan lost by Fall to Gauge Gulvas from DuBois in :19, but bounced right back registering a Fall of his own, defeating Cambridge Spring’s Colton Smith in 1:33 in the 5th Place Match.

Cutter lost by Fall in 1:28 in Championship Round 1 to Zack Zinger from Warren, but rebounded with five straight victories in the Consolation Rounds.


He defeated Damon Reese from Youngsville, by Fall in 1:42 of a Consy Round 1 match. Cutter followed that with a 7-2 decision over McGuffy’s Seth Burgdolt in the Consolation Round 2.

Consolation Round 3 saw Cutter pinning Phillip Nave from Peter’s Township in 3:56 and then he won a 3-1 decision over Curwensville’s Jake McCracken, in Consy Round 4.

The final win in the string for Cutter was a 10-0 Major Decision over Zack Zinger, in the Consolation Quarterfinals, avenging his Championship Round 1 loss.

Cutter fell in the Consolation Semifinals 5-1 to Franklin’s Holden Cook. He fell in the 5th Place Match by Major Decision to James Laird from General McLane.

Other Bobcat Wrestlers competing were: Taylor Altman, Caleb Edmonds, Logan Edmonds, Breckin Rex and Ben Smith.
