Central Clarion Wildcats Football Team Logo And Mascot Reveal Night Agenda Finalized, Public Invited To This Free Event (03/12/20)

Final plans for the reveal of the Central Clarion Wildcats Football Team’s Logo and Mascot, took place at a meeting held at Clarion Area High School on Wednesday, March 4th.

Attending the meeting were Clarion Area Principal, Ted Pappas, coaches Larry Wiser and Dave Eggleton, Wildcats Booster Club president, Cory Rex, logo designer Karl Jacobson, Wildcat Division historian Ken Burkett, the Executive Director of the Jefferson County Historical Society and local media.

The Wildcats was a nickname given to the Union Army’s 105th Pennsylvania Regiment, mainly from Jefferson and Clarion Counties, who fought in a number of Civil War battles including the Battle of Gettysburg. The Regiment has a monument at the battlefield.

The Big Reveal, a free event that is open to the public, will take place on Thursday, March 26th at Clarion Area High School.

Festivities will begin with a reception at 5:30PM. There will be refreshments provided by Schneider Dairy, with Randy Shook providing some finger foods in the lobby outside the library. Inside the library will be a number of artifacts from the Jefferson County Historical Society’s extensive collection, which includes slides, photos, ribbons, medals, posters, diaries. There are over 1,000 documents in the collection.

At 6:15PM, Mr. Burkett will give a presentation on the 105th’s history, in the auditorium.

At 7:15PM, there will be a question and answer session , with the hope of generating lots of questions and conversations, about the process of coming up with the Team Name, Logo and Mascot.

At 7:30PM, the Logo and Mascot will be revealed. Some time will be taken to explain the details of the Logo and Mascot and their historical relevance.

A public sale of the new Wildcat T-Shirts is planned for 7:45PM.
