Jackson Fox led Clarion Area to a first place finish in the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Boys Mega Match, at Cross Creek Resort on Thursday (September 3rd). Jackson recorded a 39, to tie Clarion-Limestone’s Hayden Seigle for medalist honors. This is the second match in a row that the two tied for medalist honors.

Moniteau’s Jacob Felsing finished third, carding a 41. McKayla Kerle also finished in the Top Five for the Bobcats, tying Clarion-Limestone’s for fourth at 44.

Devon Lauer  tied Forest Area’s Ethan Carll for seventh place, shooting a 48.

The Bobcats finished seven strokes ahead of runner-up Moniteau, 244-251. Clarion- Limestone was third with a 256. Forest Area finished fourth at 269, with Venango Catholic rounding out the Top 5 with a 273.

When originally tallied, Venango Catholic was listed in fourth place with a 263. But Venango Catholic golfer Nolan Lineman noticed that his score was entered wrong, 10 strokes less than he actually shot and reported the error. The difference in team score moved Forest Area into fourth and dropped Venango Catholic to fifth.

Venango Catholic coach Ken Lancaster, who provides results to area media, had this to say about Noah’s fine show of sportsmanship, “Apparently there is still honor in the golf world. Very proud of Nolan for pointing out the error.”

What a fine example, Nolan!

Season Team rankings stand with Clarion Area – first (18), Moniteau – second (16), Clarion-Limestone – third (14), Forest Area and Venango Catholic – tied for fourth (11).

The next Boys Match will be held at Foxburg Country Club on Tuesday (September 8th).
