Lady Cats Volleyball Team Downs Visiting Warren And Berlin Brothersvalley In Saturday Tri-match (Posted 09/20/20)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Hosted the Warren Lady Dragons and the Berlin Brothersvalley Lady Mountaineers in a Tri-match on Saturday (September 19th) and came away victorious in both their matches.

The Cats won both matches in straight sets, downing Warren 25-11, 25-8 and 25-13, and Berlin Brothersvalley 25-8, 25-8 and 25-10.

Warren Match

Brenna Campbell had 13 points (2 aces), 32 assists and twelve digs. Payton Simko recorded 11 points (1 ace), 2 kills and three digs. Aryana Girvan recorded 9 points (4 aces), 7 kills and three digs. Korrin Burns scored 8 points (3 aces) to go along with 14 kills, 8 digs and an assist.

Ava Kiser had 4 points (1 ace) and a dig. Erica Selfridge scored 3 points, and had 10 kills and twelve digs. Jordan Best registered 1 point and four digs. Noel Anthony had two digs.

Berlin Brothersvalley Match

Campbell recorded 14 points (1 ace), 28 assists and a kill. Burns scored 10 points (4 aces), and had 17 kills 3 digs and an assist. Best had 10 points (1 ace) and six digs. Selfridge recorded 9 points (4 aces), 5 kills and six digs. Simko had 6 points (2 aces), 3 kills and a dig.

Girvan registered 3 points (2 aces) and a pair of kills. Anthony had 2 points and a dig. Adia Needham had 3 kills and a dig. Kiser had a dig and Taylor Alston had an assist.

Coach Shari Campell had this to say, “Our Tri-match was a great day to establish our game. We built trust and communication that will allow us to build on all of our offensive options. I liked seeing all our hitters contributing. Serve was strong. Our passing improved from previous matches and that will be key all season.”

The Clarion Area Junior Varsity also won both their matches.

The Lady Cats will travel to Maplewood on Wednesday (September 23rd).
