Wildcats Fall To Raiders In D9 League Matchup (Posted 09/–/20)

The Central Clarion Wildcats fell to the Brookville Raiders in a District Nine League – Large School matchup 49-30, C-L’s Homecoming Game, on Friday (September 18th) at Clarion-Limestone Stadium.

The first half saw both teams putting lots of points on the board.

The Raiders scored on their first possession, on a ten-yard run by Robert Keth at 8:36 of the first. Keth also ran for the two-point conversion, giving Brookville an 8-0 lead.

The Wildcats answered on their first series. On a third down, at the Brookville thirty-five, quarterback Cal German hit Cutter Boggess, who got behind the defenders on the left sideline, at the ten. Boggess ran it the rest of the way. The two-point conversion failed and the Cats trailed by two, 8-6, at 6:49.

The Raiders moved out to a 16-6 lead, at 5:39, on a ten yard touchdown pass from Jack Krug to Braiden Davis and a Keth run for the two-point conversion.

Central closed to within two points at 11:53 of the second, when German hit Breckin Rex with a swing pass to the right for a ten yard score, followed by Rex taking a pitch in along the left side.

Davis had a seven-yard scoring run through the middle, at 9:32 of the second, for the Raiders. But the conversion play failed and Brookille now had an eight point 22-14 lead.

German hit Christian Simko on the left side of the endzone, for a sixteen yard touchdown, with 7:22 left in the half. The two point conversion failed and the Cats were now with in two, 22-20.

A  twenty-six yard Beau Verdill field goal with 1:35 would close out the first half scoring, and give the Wildcats their only lead of the night at 23-22.

Clarion-Limestone’s Sydney Simpson was crowned Homecoming Queen during the halftime ceremony.

The Raiders regained the lead, at 30-24, as Krug hit Davis for a five yard touchdown at 6:24 of the third, and then hit Keth for the two-point conversion.

Central tied the score at 30, with 3:36 left in the quarter, when German rolled to the right and found Boggess in the right side of the endzone and Verdill kicked the point after.

Brookville scored at 11:50 in the fourth, on a pass scoring pass from Krug to Kyle Macbeth to lead 36-30, followed by a another touchdown pass from Krug, this one to Brayden Kunselman with 4:22 left moving the advantage to 42-30.

The final points came on a five yard run from Keth and an extra-point kick from Macbeth, to set the final score at 49-30, Raiders.

The Wildcats will travel to Moniteau on Friday (September 25th).
