Five Lady Cats Named To 2020 Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association All-State Team (Posted 12/07/20)

The Awards just keep coming for the 2020 PIAA Class-A State Volleyball Champion Clarion Area, as the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association has recently announced their All-State Teams and five Lady Cats were selected to the 2020 Class-A Squad. (Class-A and AA were announced on Sunday, December 6th and Class-AAA and AAAA were announced on Monday, December 7th.)

Seniors Brenna Campbell and Erica Selfridge, junior Korrin Burns and Jordan Best and sophomore Aryana Girvan were among the 2020 selectees, for the 24-0 Lady Cats.

This is Brenna’s fourth time being named All-State. Brenna was selected at Setter. For the season, Brenna had 689 assists, 275 points (51 aces), 106 digs and 15 kills. Brenna went over the 3,000 career assists threshold this season.

Erica is All-State for the fourth time also, having been named to the New York Volleyball Coaches Association’s All-State Team, for her previous school Bainbridge-Guilford, in 2017-2019. Bainbridge-Guilford won State Titles in 2017-2018. Erica was named to this year’s team as an Outside Hitter. Erica registered 244 kills, 178 points (50 aces) and 178 digs. She went over the 1,000 career kills mark this year.

Brenna and Erica were both named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region 2 Team (Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.), this season.

This is Korrin’s second year in a row being named All-State. She was named as an Outside Hitter. Korrin had 360 kills, 166 points (51 aces), 124 digs and 15 blocks. Korrin also eclipsed the 1,000 career kills mark this season.

This is Aryana’s first time being selected, getting a nod at Right Side. Aryana recorded 125 kills, 77 points (24 aces), 60 digs and 18 blocks.

Jordan, also named for the first time, was selected as a Libero. Jordan amassed 187 points (39 aces), 106 digs and 23 assists.

Coach Campbell had this to say about her All-Staters and the Lady Cats as a whole, “I am incredibly happy that so many of our players are getting recognition for their contributions to this great team achievement. They are so very lucky to have their efforts noticed and awarded by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association.” 

Two players from neighboring Redbank Valley were named to the Class-AA Squad, Outside Hitters Montana Hetrick and Alivia Huffman.

Others from around the District Nine and District Ten area who were selected include:

Class-A: Jadyn Brabham – Outside Hitter from Oswayo Valley; Reilly Raught – Outside Hitter from Otto-Eldred; and from Saegertown, Brittany Houck – Outside Hitter and Avery Braymer – Middle Hitter.

Class-AA: Katelyn Griebel – Outside Hitter from Punxsutawney; Audri Marconi – Outside Hitter from Kane; Maplewood’s Chloe Leech – Outside Hitter and Sadie Thomas – Outside Hitter; and Cady Benedict – Middle Hitter; Cady Benedict – Middle Hitter from Sharpsville; and Harborcreek’s Alli Flook – Libero and Izzy Gray – Setter.

Class-AAA: Bella Gregory – Outside Hitter from DuBois; Cassidy Snider – Outside Hitter from Conneaut Area; Anna Bayer – Opposite from Fort LeBoeuf; and Karlee Berchtold – Opposite from Villa Maria.
