Lady Cats Season Ends With Loss To Lady Gators In D9 Class-A Basketball Quarterfinals

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Basketball Team’s season came to an end with a 45-39 loss to the homestanding Port Allegany Lady Gators, in the District Nine Class-A quarterfinals, on Thursday (March 11th).

The Cats led 11-8 after one and with a 13-10 second quarter advantage, Clarion held a 24-18 lead at the half. The Gators came back with a 14-8 edge in the third and the game was knotted at 32-all, heading to the final stanza. A 13-7 Port Allegany edge in the fourth, set the 45-39 final.

Erica Selfridge led the Lady Cats with fourteen points. Noel Anthony and Ava Cherico scored 8 points each, Jordan Best added 6 points, Payton Simko had 2 points and Rebekah Ketner scored one point. Cherico had a pair of three-pointers, and Anthony and Best each had a trey.

Bri Garzel led Port Allegany with a game-high twenty points.
