Baseball And Softball: Bobcats, Lady Cats Fall To Redbank Valley

The Clarion Area Baseball and Softball Teams both fell to homestanding Redbank Valley on Friday (April 23rd). The Bobcat Baseball Team dropped a one-run 6-5 decision to the Bulldogs, while the Lady Cats Softball Team lost to the Lady Bulldogs 13-9.

Baseball: Redbank Valley 6 – Clarion 5

The Bobcats scored four runs in the top of the third inning, to lead 4-2, but the Bulldogs put up three runs in the bottom of the inning, to lead 5-4. With a run by the Clarion, the game was tied 5-all. But Redbank scored again in the bottom of the sixth and held Clarion off the scoreboard in the seventh to seal the win.

Cole Slaugenhoup homered and singled for the Bobcats. Dawson Smail hit two doubles and scored a pair of runs. Cameron Lapinto had two hits.

The Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Keystone on Monday (April 25th).

Softball: Redbank Valley: 13 – Clarion 9

The Lady Bulldogs opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first. Clarion answered with a pair of runs in the top of the second, to lead 2-1, but Redbank Valley plated five runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-2 lead. The Bulldogs addded two more in the third, but Clarion scored five in the top of the fourth cutting their deficit to 8-6.

Redbank added two runs in the fifth, Clarion scored two in the top of the sixth and Redbank answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. A Lady Cats’ run in the seventh set the 13-9 final.

Brenna Campbell had a big game for Clarion, with a pair of home runs and a single, three RBIs and two runs scored. Payton Simko homered, singled, and scored another run. Makayla Kerle homered and anothe run, while Brianna Forrest also homered.

Noel Anthony doubled three times and singled, and scored a run. Jordan Best had two hits, including a triple, scored a run and drove in a pair of runs. Kylee Beers had two hits and scored twice, Mackenna Aaron. Ava Kiser each contributed hits.

The Lady Cats are scheduled to travel to Keystone on Monday (April 24th).
