Baseball: Bobcats Down Orioles 8-4

The visiting Clarion Area Bobcats downed the Rocky Grove Orioles 8-4, in non-conference baseball action on Thursday (May 13th).

Neither team could score through the first three innings. The Bobcats put two runs on the board in the top of the fourth and four more in the sixth to take a 6-0 lead. The Orioles put a run across, in the top of bottom of the inning, but Clarion posted two runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-0 lead. Three Rocky Grove runs in the bottom of the inning set the final.

Winning pitcher Devon Lauer had a solid outing going six innings, allowing just one run, on four hits. He fanned two batters, and didn’t walk any. Gary Matus came on in relief, going one inning, striking out one, allowing one hit and three runs, and a pair of walks.

Dawson Smail had a big game offensively for the Bobcats, going 3-for-4, including a triple, driving in three runs and scoring a run. Hunter Craddock had a triple, scored a run and had three RBIs. Tanner Miller had two hits and scored twice. Matus singled, drove in two runs and scored a pair of runs.

Bryce Brinkley singled, stole a base and scored a run.

Lauer scored a run, Ryan Alston drove in a run and Dauntae Girvan stole a base.

The Bobcats are now 11-6 on the season and 7-1 in the KSAC. They are scheduled to host Keystone on Monday.
