Softball: Lady Cats Come Back From Losses Earlier In The Week To Down Cranberry In Senior Night Game

The Clarion Area Lady Cats downed the visiting Cranberry Lady Berries 6-4 on Wednesday (May 12th), coming back from losses to Karns City and Keystone earlier in the week.

Wednesday: Clarion 6 – Cranberry 4

The Lady Cats honored seniors Ava Kiser and Brenna Campbell, on Senior Night.

Payton Simko went the distance in the circle for the Lady Cats, in the victory over Cranberry, striking out 10 and walking just one, while giving up nine hits. She held the Berries off the scoreboard for the first six innings, before the Berries put up four runs in the seventh.

Clarion scored three runs in the second, two in the third and another in the sixth.

Brenna Campbell had a double and a pair of singles, drove in a run and scored a run for the Cats. Noel Anthony singled and doubled and scored a run. Bri Forrest singled and doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Ava Kiser doubled, drove in a run and scored once. Emily Troese doubled, had and RBI and scored a run, and Kyle Beers singled and scored twice.

Earlier Games:

On Monday (May 10th), the Lady Cats lost to the homestanding Karns City Lady Gremlins 15-0 in 3 innings.

Clarion dropped a 9-5 decision to the visiting Keystone Lady Panthers, on Tuesday (May 11th),

The Lady Cats opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the first. Each team scored a run in the third, to give Clarion a 4-1 lead heading to the fourth. But, Keystone scored six runs in the fourth to lead 7-4. The Cats pushed a run across in the fifth and the Panthers answered with two runs in the sixth, to set the final.

Jordan Best homered and doubled, drove in two runs and scored three times for Clarion. Payton Simko had two singles, scored a run and had an RBI. Noel Anthony singled and scored a run, Kylee Beers drove in a run and Bri Forrest had a single.

The Lady Cats are set to host DuBois on Friday (May 14th) and to travel to Cranberry on Saturday (May 15th).
