Softball: Lady Cats Down Moniteau 5-2

The Clarion Area Lady Cats downed the visiting Moniteau Lady Warriors 5-2 in KSAC Softball action on Wednesday (May 19th).

Clarion opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first. The Lady Cats scored two more in the third, for a 3-0 lead. After Moniteau posted a run in the top of the fourth, Clarion answered with two more in the bottom of the inning, to go up 5-1. A Warrior run in the seventh set the final.

Noel Anthony went 2-for-2, both singles, for the Cats, driving in a run and scoring twice. Brenna Campbell doubled and drove in a run. Bri Forrest and Makenzie Aaron each singled and scored a run, while Jordan Best also scored.

Payton Simko picked up the win. She stuck out nine batters, giving up two runs, one of them earned and five hits.

The Lady Cats’ next action will be in the District Nine playoffs.
