Clarion Downs Otto-Eldred In D9 Volleyball Class-A Quarters, Face Clarion-Limestone In Semifinals

The homestanding Clarion Area Bobcats downed the Otto-Eldred Terrors 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-13), on Thursday (October 28th), in their District Nine Class-A quarterfinals match. With the win the Cats, will now host the Clarion-Limestone Lions on Tuesday (October 2nd), at 6:30PM for in a semifinal match-up.

After Clarion’s Payton Simko had a kill to tie the first set at 6-all, Jordan Best served for six straight points to give clarion a 12-6 lead. Aryana Girvan had a couple of kills on the run. Later Adia Needham served for three straight points setting the Bobcats’ lead at 19-13. The Terrors broke serve and Korrin Burns returned the favor with a kill, followed by three service points by Noel Anthony moved Clarion’s lead to 23-14, on way to the 25-15 final.

Grace Ochs started the second set with two service points for the Cats and Clarion steadily built on the lead throughout. Later, four straight points by Needham moved the lead to 20-7. Needham then put the finishing touches on the set, with the twenty-fifth point in the 25-11 win.

The Terrors served for the first point of set three. Clarion broke serve to tie the game and moved out to a 3-1 lead. Otto-Eldred came back to tie the score at 3-all, but the Cats broke serve to lead 4-3 and never trailed again. Three service points by Burns, late in the game, moved Clarion to a ten-point 17-7 lead. he set was finished out on two service points by Adia Needham, securing the 25-13 set and 3-0 match victory.

Anthony had a great all-around match for the Bobcats, with 34 assists, 9 points, 5 digs and a kill. Burns had 16 kills, 6 points and five digs. Needham registered 8 points (3 aces), 2 kills and two digs. Girvan finished with 11 kills, 3 points (1 ace) and a dig.

Best scored 8 points (1 ace) and had 12 digs. Simko recorded 6 points (1 ace), 7 assists and five digs.Ochs had 2 points and two digs, and Brianna Pierce scored two points and had a pair of digs.
