Wildcats Down Owls 36-7

The Central Clarion Wildcats’ traveled to Bradford on Friday (October 15th) for a District Nine League – Large School Division game, and came away with a 36-7 victory.

Central got the scoring started in the first quarter, with Jase Ferguson hooking up with Christian Simko on a forty-five yard touchdown, for a 6-0 lead.

The Wildcats moved their lead out to 14-0 with Ferguson hitting Ryan Hummell for an eleven yard touchdown followed by a Ferguson to Simko two-pointer; at 3:01 of the second. That was followed with Breckin Rex running for a thirty-five yard touchdown, followed by Charlie Franchino’s point after kick, giving Central a 21-0 lead as the team’s headed to the locker rooms at the half.

Central scored the only points in the third quarter, with Ferguson carrying the ball over from a yard out and Breckin Rex taking it in for two. The game headed to the final stanza with the Wildcats leading 29-0.

Bradford avoided a shutout, with Ashton Smith running it in for a six yard touchdown and Abbie Nuzzo kicking the extra-point, cutting the deficit to 29-7 with 8:40 left.

Ryan Hummell closed out the scoring with a five yard touchdown run with 2:50 left. Franchino’s was successful on the extra-point setting the final at Central Clarion 36 – Bradford 7.

Ferguson completed 9-of-18 passes for 154 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception, and had the touchdown run. Breckin Rex ran for 95 yards on 17 carries, with the touchdown and on defense, he had 7 tackles (1 tackle for loss).

Simko had 73 receiving yards on three catches, with the one touchdown, and on defense, had four tackles and caused a fumble. Hummell had 3 receptions for 33 yards and the touchdown, and 53 yards on eight carries, with the one touchdown. He also had 10 tackles (1.5 tackles for loss) on defense.

Ashton Rex had 9 tackles. Kaoz Baker had 8 tackles (two tackles for loss, including a sack). Dawson Hotchkiss had 7 tackles and recovered a fumble. Kolton Bradley had 7 tackles. Brady Quinn had an interception, to go along with 3 tackles.

The Wildcats are scheduled to host DuBois, next Friday (October 22nd), at Clarion-Limestone Stadium.
