Bobcats Down Lions In Double Overtime In KSAC Boys Basketball Action

The visiting Clarion Area Bobcats downed the Clarion-Limestone Lions 65-56 in double overtime, in Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Boys basketball action on Friday (January 21st).

Christian Simko led the Cats with 25 points and eight rebounds. Two other Bobcats scored in double-figures, with Devon Lauer registering 13 points (with 4 treys), while Gabe Simko recorded 11 points and eight rebounds.

Clarion-Limestone held a 14-12 lead after one. The Bobcats had a 12-4 edge in the second, to take a 24-18 lead into halftime. The Lions outscored Clarion 16-15 in the third and were down by five 39-34 heading to the fourth.

After an 18-13 edge by C-L in the fourth the game was sent to overtime knotted at 52-all.

The score was still tied after one overtime, 56-56, as both teams scored four points. But Clarion had a 9-0 advantage in the second overtime to secure the win.

Rounding out the Bobcats scoring were Aidan Quinn with 8 points, Dawson Smail with 6 and Derek Smail with two.

The Lions had four players in double-figures. Rylie Klingensmith scored sixteen points. Bryson Huwar followed with 12, while Tommy Smith and Jase Ferguson had 11 and 10 respectively. Ryan Hummell scored seven points.

The Bobcats will be playing at Keystone later this afternoon (Saturday, January 22nd), in the “Hoops for Hope” cancer awareness fundraiser, Girls/Boys doubleheader. The Girls are to get underway at 2:30 PM and the Boys at 4:00 PM.
