Bobcat Junior High Wrestlers Have Strong Outing At Sharon Tournament

Meet summary (Coach Braun Gourley’s notes on each wrestler is in parenthesis.):

The Clarion Area Junior High Wrestling Team competed in the Sharon Junior High Invitational on Saturday , February 12th and had a very good showing. The Bobcats had eight wresters entered with four of them placing in the Top Three.

The Cats had three second place finishers: Jacob Henry at 130-pounds (3-1 on the day.  Lost a tough match in finals 2-0.), Jacob Naser at 155 (2-1 on the day. Good to get back on the mat after an injury.  Moved really well.  Looking forward to what he can do next year.), and Jimmy Kerr at Heavyweight (Had three quick pins.  3-1 on the day. Wrestled very physical.). Picking up a third place for Clarion was Matt Alston at 170 (3-1 on the day. Lost 1-0 in semifinals to champ. Wrestled back to take third with some big wins. Keeps improving every day and does not look like a first-year wrestler.)

Others competing for the Bobcats included Brady McKinley at 122 (2-2 on the day. Lost in consolation semifinals. Did well in a tough weight class for a first-year wrestler.), Hayden Weber at 115 (1-2 on the day. Lost two tough matches in the biggest weight class in the tournament.), Ben Naser at 138 (0-2 on the day. Ben keeps improving every time he wrestles. Doing well for a first-year wrestler.) and Owen Green at 190 (0-2 on the day. Owen is starting to get more physical and is moving better. Did well against older kids.).   

The Bobcats’ dual meet record is 7-0. They will conclude their season on Saturday (February 19th) at District Nine Junior High Tournament at Brockway. Wrestling will begin at 9:30 am.
