Bobcats Fall To Wolves In D9 Girls’ Class-A Quarterfinals; Move On To Fifth-Place Consolation Bracket

The Clarion Area Bobcats dropped a 39-30 decision to the homestanding North Clarion Wolves, in a District Nine Class-A Girls quarterfinal match-up, on Thursday (February 24th).

Clarion will next play in the first round of the District Nine fifth-place, consolation bracket, against the loser of tonight’s (Friday, February 25th) Union/Otto-Eldred game.

North Clarion held a one-point 10-9 lead after one. Each team scored seven points in the second, go into halftime with the Wolves still up by one, 17-16.

A 14-9 North Clarion edge, in the third, had them up 31-25 heading to the final stanza, where their 8-5 advantage set the final.

Jordan Best led the Bobcats with eleven points, which included a three-point bucket. Taylor Alston followed with 6 points while Rebekah Ketner contributed five.

Payton Simko and Noel Anthony had 3 points apiece, with Anthony’s points coming on a trey. Gia Babington scored two points.

Gwen Siegel led the Wolves with seventeen points. Emma McFarland had 9 points, including two baskets from three-point range, while Amya Green had seven points including a trey.
