Bobcats Fall To Crusaders In D9 Class-A Boys Basketball Semifinal

The Clarion Area Bobcats fell to the homestanding and number 1 seeded Elk County Catholic Crusaders, 51-36, in their District Nine Boys Class-A quarterfinal matchup on Friday (February 25th). The Bobcats will now play Cameron County next Wednesday (March 2nd) at a site to be determined.

ECC led 15-10 after one, and with a 9-2 advantage in the second, the Crusaders took a 24-12 lead into halftime. They followed with a narrow 14-12 edge in the third, to lead 38-24 going to the final stanza, where they had a one point, 13-12 edge, setting the final.

Devon Lauer led the Bobcats with ten points, followed by Christian Simko with six. Gabe Simko and Ryan Alston had 6 points apiece. Derek Smail scored 3 points, while Dawson Smail and Wright had two.

Charlie Breindel led the Crusaders with 22 points, while Jordan Wasko added ten.
