Bobcat Boys Down Cameron County, Will Play At Johnsonburg On Saturday, For D9’s Fifth Spot In PIAA 1-A State Playoffs

The Clarion Bobcat Boys Basketball team kept their season alive with a 61-54 win over homestanding Cameron County, in their District Nine Class-A fifth place bracket opener, on Wednesday (March 2nd). The Cats will now travel to Johnsonburg, on Saturday (March 5th), to face the Rams, in a game to decide the fifth and final District Nine spot in the PIAA State Playoffs. Tipoff is scheduled for noon.

Christian Simko and Devon Lauer both hit for double-figures. Christian led the way with 20 and Devon followed with fifteen. Devon had three treys.

Ryan Alston had eight points, with a pair of three-pointers. Gabe Simko and Kameron Merrell each chipped in six points. Dawson Smail had 4 and Derek Smail contributed two points.

The Bobcats were down by one point, 13-12 after one, but with a 15-13 edge, in the second, Clarion now had a one-point, 27-26 lead at the half. A 12-11 Bobcats advantage in the third, saw them up 39-37 heading to the final frame.

The Cats outscored the Raiders 22-17 in the fourth to set the final.

Hayden Brown led Cameron County with a game-high 23 points, including 3 three-pointers. Cam Allison had sixteen.
