C-L Boys Soccer Start Season Strong!

After winning their two preseason games, the Lions continue strong with their season opening games!!

Their first scrimmage was a win against Keystone 15-0 with 9 different goal scorers! Bailee Verdill had four of those goals with one header! Brendan Bettwy had 2, Layton Dunn and Jason Megnin also had two each. Wyatt Boyden, Dany Schweitzer, Isaac Lerch, Jamison McIllwein, and Reece Geiger each added to the score.

C-L traveled to Oil City for their second scrimmage. They came out on top with a score of 8-0.

Bailee Verdill had 6 of the goals and Thomas Uckert and Wyatt Boyden each having one goal.

The Lions first regular season game was on Monday, August 29. It was a rematch with Oil City on the Lions home field. The Lions came out on top again with a final score of 12-0.

Bailee Verdill was the leading scorer with 4 goals one of which was a header. Followed by Thomas Uckert, Wyatt Boyden and Dany Schweitzer each having two goals. Reece Geiger and Jason Megning rounded out the scoring with one goal each.

August 30 the Forest Fires met up with the Lions at C-L’s field. The Final score was Lions 5 Forest 2.

Bailee Verdill had four of the goals and Reece Geiger had the fifth goal from a penalty shot.

The Lions third game of the week was against the Brockway Rovers. It was a double header that took place at Clarion High School after the girls soccer match.

The Lions came out on top again after a hard fought, physical game.

The final score was Lions 4 Rovers 2

Bailee Verdill had all four goals in the game with some great support from his teammates! The passing and team support was beyond amazing!!!

Next week the boys travel to Keystone on Tuesday, September 6th and on Wednesday, September 7th they meet up with Redbank Valley on their home field at 6:00.
