The 2022 Clarion golf season started and ended at the Penn State Blue course. We played in the Happy Valley Invitational in August to help prepare for our goal of making the state tournament.

Although we didn’t make it to states as a team after being eliminated by West Shamokin in the subregional tournament at Ebensburg Country Club, we did still advance 4 players individually which is a huge accomplishment. I don’t think there was another team that had as many players qualify for states individually as we did.

To say we had a great year is an understatement!

We dominated the KSAC for the 4th straight year and won the D9 title for the 2nd consecutive year.

We had two D9 individual champions with Kameron winning the boys district title in Kane and McKayla winning the girls district title in Coudersport, defending that title for the 2nd consecutive year.

As far as the state tournament goes, the kids played in some tough weather conditions. Monday was super windy with a high of 46 degrees. Tuesday we had a delay because of freezing temperatures. When play started it was 34 degrees and didn’t warm up too much as the day went on. Kids were wearing winter coats, gloves and hats – not their typical golf attire.

Kameron finished in a 6-way tie for 30th, shooting 82-78. Devon finished in a 5-way tie for 55th, with 85-84 and Lucas 70th, with 95-90.

McKayla finished 20th in the girls division with 90-92. We are happy that she was able to complete after being struck by a golf ball during her practice round.

This team of kids has a tremendous amount of talent and they should all be very proud of how far they made it this year.

Great job and a great season!
