Bobcats Fine Volleyball Season Comes To An End In D9 Class-A Semifinals

The Clarion Bobcats Volleyball Team concluded their fine 2022 campaign with a four set loss (22-25, 26-24, 22-25, 15-25) to the homestanding Oswayo Valley Green Wave, in the District Nine Class-A Semifinals, on Tuesday (November 1st).

With end to the season, four seniors, who have been very instrumental to the Bobcats’ success, Aryana Girvan, Bri Pierce, Adia Needham and Grace Ochs saw their Bobcat Volleyball careers come to an end.

The first set was close throughout, but the Green Wave claimed the win.

The second set saw the score tied at 3-all. Girvan had a kill to give Clarion the serve and Pierce served three straight points to put the Cats up 7-3. Later, with Clarion up 9-7. Hadlee Campbell had a kill and Taylor Alston recorded three service points, including an ace, to move the Bobcats out to a 13-7 lead. Marley Kline had a kill during the run.

Aryana Girvan

The Green Wave kept plugging away and came back to tie the game at 24, with a two point edge now required to win. Girvan broke serve with a kill and Pierce served for the winner.

Oswayo Valley was up 20-12 in the third set. Clarion chipped away, but still found themselves facing set point with Oswayo up 24-18. The Bobcats held on with Campbell with a kill to gain serve. Campbell served three straight points to move to within two at 24-22 Oswayo. But the Green Wave scored the next point for the win.

Oswayo Valley led wire-to-wire in the fourth set to claim the match.

Adia Needham

Campbell had 9 points (3 aces), 11kills, 9 digs and a block for the Cats. Needham registered 9 points (1 ace), 2 kills and six digs. Pierce recorded 6 points (1 ace), 16 digs and two assists. Alston served for 5 points (3 aces), to go along with 4 kills and four digs. Girvan had a big night by delivering 21 kills and 9 digs. She also scored two points. Grace Ochs set her teammates with 42 assists. She also had 2 aces, a kill and five digs.

Grace Ochs

Kline had 5 kills and two assists. Sophie Babington had 3 digs and a kill. Anna O’Toole had a dig.
