UMW Wins Opening Match In NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament, Former Bobcat Brenna Campbell Turns In Solid Performance; Tonight’s Match And Whole Tournament Livestream Broadcast for free (Link At Bottom Of Article)

The bracket host school University of Mary Washington Eagles, from Fredricksburg, Virginia, the number one seed and host of their bracket of sixteen, defeated the Cedar Crest College (Allentown) Falcons, in three straight sets (25-7, 25-12, 25-10) on Thursday (November 10th) at the Ron Rosner Arena, in the William M. Anderson Center.
Former Clarion Area Bobcat standout, setter Brenna Campbell turned in a strong performance for the UMW, dishing out fourteen assists, gathering four digs and delivering on a kill.
The 25-7 Eagles will now face the 19-16 Eastern University (Wayne, PA), also the Eagles, who won their opening round matchup with Marymount University (Arlington, VA), in five sets (24-14, 20-25,25-18, 19-25, 15-11). UMW and Eastern will meet tonight (Friday, November 11th) with the match set to begin at 7:00PM.
The winner of that match will face the winner of the 4:30 contest between Stevens Institute of Technology (Hoboken, NJ), and Johns Hopkins (Baltimore), with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship, sponsored by Saint Vincent College, in conjunction with SportsPITTSBURGH, set for Wednesday, November 16th through Saturday, November 19th at Duquesne University’s UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
Stevens defeated Mahattanville (Purchase, NY), while Johns Hopkins (Baltimore) defeated Hunter (NYC) in their opening round matches.
