Boys Basketball: Bobcats Drop Close Game In Punxsutawney Christmas Tournament Championship Game

Clarion Bobcat Boys fell to the Cameron County Raiders, 45-44 in the Championship game of the Punxsutawney Christmas Tournament, on Thursday (December 29th).

The Cats held a 44-43 lead with just over three seconds on the clock, but Josh Smith scored on a layup, to pull out the win for Cameron County.

Cameron County led 13-7 after one period, but a 16-10 Bobcat edge in the second, sent the teams to halftime tied 23-all. A Raiders 12-6 advantage in the third, put them up 35-29 heading to the last stanza. Clarion posted a 15-10 edge in the fourth.

Devon Lauer led Clarion with a game-high 18 points, including a three-pointer. Gabe Simko also hit double-figures with fourteen points. Both were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Bryce Brinkley, Dawson Smail and Derek Smail each contributed four points. Brinkley registered a trey.

Camdyn Allison Led the Raiders with sixteen points for Cameron County, Landon Farren had 15 and Smith followed with ten. Allison was named Tournament MVP.
