Wrestling: Clarion Falls To Redbank Valley

The Clarion Bobcat wrestlers traveled to Redbank Valley on Tuesday (January 31st), and lost a tough 39-30 match to the Bulldogs.

Bobcats Head Coach Lee Weber shares this summary of the match:

We were a little short handed against Redbank Valley, but the replacements came in and did the best that they could.  Kaden Ferguson (107), Ben Aaron (139) Gavin Hannold (189), and Josh Beal (285) were all out with injuries.

We had our chances in a couple matches, but unfortunately they were caught for 6 points in a few matches.  Losing the coin toss didn’t help either.  Redbank was able to move their wrestlers at 152 for better match ups and that made a huge difference.  Redbank came through with big pins to seal the win though.

Logan Powell, Mason Gourley, and Logan Edmonds all had decisive wins.  While Matt Alston, Colten Keihl, and Brendon Wright had big wins for themselves.

(107) We had no back up and lost 6 points due to forfeit.

(114) Powell wasted little time pinning Eli Shaffer in the 1st period.

(121) Grayson Aaron was fighting hard for 5 minutes, but Daniel Evans of Redbank got him to his back late in the 3rd period.

(127) Seth Weckerly fought hard for 2 periods against Cole Bish but was pinned with a cradle.

(133) Zane VanTassel had his opponent on his back early but lost control and got pinned in the first period.

(139) Wright wrestled very well to defeat Levi Shick in a must win match.

(145) Jake Henry tried to throw too many times and got caught in a couple of throws to lose 9-4.

(152) Gourley dominated his opponent and scored a fall in the 2nd.

(160) Jacob Naser was wrestling tough for two periods, but got put to his back in the 2nd period.

(172) Alston won a hard fought match over Johnathan Slack of RBV 1-0 to keep our hopes alive.

(189) Keihl gave up twenty-five pounds, but still earn a pin against Keyauna Shimp for a fall in the 1st period.

(215) Edmonds made quick work over Garrett Shaffer with a bear hug.

(285) Sebastian Burkhart lost by fall to Gabe Carroll in the 1st period.

We will wrestle in the District Nine Team Duals against Cranberry this Saturday (February 4th) at Brookville at 10 AM.

(Have a Great Team Duals, Bobcats!!!! Thanks to Coach Weber for this summary!!)
