Bobcat Baseball Team Downs DuBois, Softball Team Loses To Elk County Catholic

The Clarion Area Bobcat baseball and softball teams each hosted non-conference games at Clarion County Park on Tuesday (April 25th), with the baseball team downing the DuBois Beavers 8-2, while the softball team fell to Elk County Catholic Crusaders 10-2.

Baseball: Clarion 8 – DuBois 2

Clarion scored one run in the first and five more in a big fifth inning, which included a grand slam by Derek Smail for a 6-0 lead. He also had a single in the contest.

The Cats scored two more in the seventh, with the Beavers’ two runs coming in the top of the seventh.

Noah Harrison had a double and a pair of singles, for the Bobcats, two RBIs and two runs scored. Dawson Smail doubled and scored twice. Devon Lauer had a single and scored a run. Gary Matus scored once and Wyatt Watterson drove in a run.

Lauer was the winning pitcher.

The Bobcats are scheduled to host Keystone on Thursday (April 27th), in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference matchup and DuBois Central Catholic, in a non-conference tilt on Friday (April 28th) at Clarion County Park.

Softball: Elk County Catholic 10 – Clarion 2

The Bobcats opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first. The Crusaders pushed five runs across in the third, four more in the fourth and another run in the fifth.

Emileigh Mahle had two hits and scored a run for Clarion. J. J. Wilson singled twice. Hadlee Campbell singled and scored a run. Bri Forrest drove in a run and Emileigh Troese scored once.

The Bobcats are scheduled to host Keystone on Thursday (April 27th), in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference matchup and DuBois Area, in a non-conference tilt on Friday (April 28th) at Clarion County Park.
