Wolves Go 1-1 Against Visiting Panthers In KSAC Track

The North Clarion Wolves hosted the Keystone Panthers in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference track and field meet, on Wednesday (April 26th), with the Wolves’ boys team winning their contest 100-50, while the girls fell to the Panthers 92-68. 

Boys Meet: North Clarion 100 – Keystone 50

The Wolves came away with nine first place individual performances, while sweeping the three relays.

Mason Burford won three individual events, the 110 hurdles (16.6), the 100 (11.5) and the high jump (36-9), in addition to joining with Isaac Lerch, Noah Naser and Dawson Hotchkiss to win the 400 relay (43.6).

Hotchkiss captured two individual firsts, the 400 (54.5) and the 200 (24.9), and took second in the 100. Lerch was victorious in the long jump (19-4.5), while finishing second in the 200.

Dane Sliker won the 800 (2:16) and also teamed up with Brady Guth, Jonas Wilshire and Kaine McFarland on the winning 3200 relay (9:18.6). Sliker also was part of the winning 1600 relay (4:16), along with Grayson Aaron, James Keenen and Brady Quinn. Aiden Thomas won the 300 hurdles (48.0) and finished second in the 110 hurdles. Ben Lambert captured the high jump (5-4) and finished third in the 110 hurdles.

Wilshire was second in the 1600 and third in the 800. McFarland was second in the 3200 and third in the 1600. Quinn finished second in the pole vault, and Carter Brown, Hayden Hindman and Brody Pack were second in the high jump, shot put and discus respectively.

Keenen had two thirds, in the 200 and 400, and Guth was third in both the long jump and triple jump. Josh Turner was third in the 3200 and Jackson Rudesyle finished third in the discus.

Girls Meet: Keystone 92 – North Clarion 68

The Wolves had four individual winners, which included: Gia Babington in the 800 (2:43.6), Taylor Sherbine in the javelin (80-1), Addison Siegel in the discus (77-7) and Olivia Hannold who tied a Keystone athlete for first in the high jump (4-3).

Gia Babington joined Sophie Babington, Kaitlyn Guth and Marly Kline on the winning 3200 relay (12:13). The Babington sisters were also part of the victorious 1600 relay (4:43.1) along with Kaitlyn Guth and Anna O’Toole.

O’Toole had two individual seconds, in the 1600 and 3200, with Kline finishing second in the 200 and third in the 100. Others with second place finishes included: Sherbine in the 100, Rhiannon Copenhaver in the 400, Lillian Shirey in the 300 hurdles, Brenna Armstrong in the discus and Jayden Sheftic in the pole vault.

In addition to Kline, others capturing third place finishes for North Clarion were: Natalie Durish in the triple jump and pole vault, Raven Cunningham in the 3200 and Lauren Brinkley in the high jump.
