Roundup: Bobcat Baseball Team Downs St. Marys, Softball Team Falls To Dutch

The Clarion Area Bobcat baseball and softball teams were in action against the St. Marys Flying Dutch, in non-conference action on Friday (April 21st), with the baseball team downing the Dutch 7-2 at Clarion County Park, while the softball team fell, at St. Marys 15-0 in four innings.

Baseball

The Bobcats scored four runs in the bottom of the first. St. Marys scored a run in the top of the fourth to close the score to 4-1. Clarion stretched their lead to 7-1, with three runs in the fifth and a run by the Dutch in the sixth set the final.

Derek Smail had a home run for the Bobcats, with three RBIs and also scored twice. Noah Harrison had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Dawson Smail singled and had two RBIs.

Devon Lauer and Dauntae Girvan each singled and scored a run. Wyatt Watterson scored twice and Tanner Miller had an RBI.

Miller was the winning pitcher, going five innings, striking out four, and giving up a run and 4 hits. Derek Smail worked two innings in relief, striking out six, and giving up a run and a hit.

The Bobcats will host DuBois on Tuesday (April 25th).

Softball

St. Marys scored nine in the first, one in the second, three in the third and two in the fourth.

Emileigh Mahle and Emily Troese each had a hit for Clarion.

Clarion will host Elk County Catholic on Tuesday (April 25th).
