Bobcat Baseball Team Downs Lions, Softball Team Falls To Forest Area

The Clarion Area Bobcat baseball and softball teams hosted Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference matchups on Monday (May 8th) at Clarion County Park, with the baseball team downing the Clarion-Limestone Lions 12-2, in six innings and the softball team dropping an 8-5 decision to the Forest Area Flames.

Baseball: Clarion 12 – Clarion-Limestone 2 (six innings)

The Bobcats scored a run in each of the first two innings and five more in the fourth, to take a 7-0 lead. The Lions scored one in the top of the fifth and another in the sixth, cutting the lead to 7-2, Clarion. The Cats answered with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to set the final.

Devon Lauer had a home run for Clarion, and two RBIs. Dawson Smail doubled, drove in a run and scored twice. Noah Harrison had a pair of hits, while driving in three runs.

Wyatt Watterson had two singles, drove in two runs and scored twice. Matt Alston and Derek Smail each had two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Hayden Weber doubled, scored a run and drove in two runners.

Dauntae Girvan singled, scored a run and drove one run in. Tanner Miller singled and scored twice, while Bryce Brinkley scored a run.

Miller went 5 1/3 innings, in picking up the win. He struck out six, while allowing eight hits and two runs. Derek Smail worked 2/3 of an inning in relief, striking out one batter.

Jesse Siwiecki doubled, singled, drove in a run and scored a run for the Lions.

Softball: Forest Area 8 – Clarion 5

Alicyn Burford had one hit, scored a run and drove in a run for the Bobcats.

Kelsey Best singled, scored once and had an RBI. Hadlee Campbell had a hit and drove in a run.
