North Clarion Wolves Fall To Union/A-C Valley Falcon-Knights In KSAC Track And Field Action

North Clarion traveled to Union High School on Monday (May 8th), for a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference track and field matchup. The Falcon-Knights won the boys contest 75-71, while Union/A-CV won the girls meet on a tie-breaker, after both teams were even in points, 70-70 after the last event.

Boys: Union/A-C Valley 75 – North Clarion 71

The Wolves picked up seven individual first places and also won the 3200 relay (9:32).

Kaine McFarland won the 3200 (11:34), finished second in the 1600 and third in the 800. Mason Burford won both the 110 hurdles (15.7) and the 100 (11.3) and took third in the triple jump.

Jonas Wilshire won the 1600 (5:09) and finished second in the 800. Mason Gourley was victorious in the 300 hurdles (47.2), Dane Sliker captured the 800 (2:11) and Brady Quinn won the pole vault.

Dawson Hotchkiss picked up two second places, in the 100 and 200. Other second place finishers included: James Keenen in the 400, Jackson Wilshire in the 3200, Isaac Lerch in the long jump and Logan Bish in the javelin.

Other third place winners were Benjamin Lambert in the 110 hurdles, Aiden Thomas in the 300 hurdles, Owen Shaffer in the high jump, Hayden Hindman in the shot put and Turner in the 3200.

Girls: Union/A-C Valley 70 – North Clarion 70 (Union win on tie breaker)

North Clarion had seven individual first place finishes, including Tayler Sherbine and Rhiannon Copenhaver who tied for the top spot in the 100. Copenhaver also took second in the 200. Anna O’Toole captured the 1600 (6:56). Nicole Fair won the 400 (1:04) and took second in the 200. Gia Babington was victorious in the 800 (2:26)Addison Siegel won the discus (78-3) and was second in the shot put behind teammate Brenna Armstrong, whose winning throw was 36-3.25.

Several others took second place. Lillian Shirey in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Marly Kline in the 400, Sophie Babington in the 800), Olivia Hannold in the long jump and Jadyn Sheftic in the pole vault.

A number of others had third place finishes, Guth in the 400, Olivia Boddorf in the 100 hurdles, Hannold in the 400, Natalie Durish in the triple jump, Lauren Brinkley in the high jump and Brooke Steinman in the discus.

The Wolves won the 3200 relay (11:39), which was made up of Copenhaver, Guth O’Toole and Gia Babington, and the 400 relay (55:8) which included Copenhaver, Sherbine, Shirey and Kline.
