District Nine Releases Baseball And Softball Playoff Brackets, Bobcats Baseball Team Number Two Seed In Class-1A (Link To Brackets At Bottom Of Article)
District Nine has released the 2023 Baseball and Softball Playoff brackets, and the Clarion Area Bobcats Baseball Team has earned the number 2 seed in Class 1A.
There are six teams in the bracket. The seeding looks like this:
- DuBois Central Catholic
- Clarion Area
- Otto-Eldred
- A-C Valley/Union
- Elk County Catholic
The playoffs begin with the Quarterfinals on Tuesday, May 23rd. Clarion is in the bottom half of the bracket, along with Otto-Eldred and ECC, while DCC is in the top half of bracket, along with Cameron County and Union/A-C Valley. Clarion and DCC receive byes in the Quarters.
The other teams play at the higher seed’s field. Otto-Eldred will host ECC, while Union/A-C Valley will travel to Cameron County.
The winner of the Otto-Eldred – ECC matchup will face Clarion in the Semifinals, at a neutral site (TBD), on Thursday, May 25th. The winner of the Union/A-C Valley – Cameron County contest, will face ECC at a neutral site (TBD) that same day.
The winners of those games will play for the District Championship on Monday, May 29th at Showers Field in DuBois.
The District Champion and Runner-Up will both advance to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Tournament.
