Diamond Roundup: Bobcat Baseball Team Downs North Clarion, Softball Falls To Karns City

The Clarion Area Bobcat baseball and softball teams each hosted Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference games at Clarion County Park on Tuesday (May 16th), with the baseball team downing the North Clarion Wolves 8-2 and the softball team falling to the Karns City Gremlins 16-1 (3 innings).

Baseball: Clarion 8 – North Clarion 2

North Clarion scored a run in the top of the first. Clarion answered with two runs in the second, four in the third and another in the fourth for a 7-1 lead. Both teams scored a run in the fifth.

Devon Lauer had a big day on offense for the Bobcats, with two hits, including a triple, three runs scored and an RBI. Dawson Smail tripled and scored a run.

Gary Matus and Bryce Brinkley each singled and scored a run. Tanner Miller had a hit and three RBIs. Derek Smail singled and drove in two runs. Noah Harrison had a hit and Wyatt Watterson scored twice.

Dawson Smail started on the mound, working two scoreless innings, with one strikeout, while giving up two hits. Matt Alston came on in relief, going the final five innings to pick up the win. He struck out five, while giving up five hits and two runs. Neither pitcher gave up a walk.

Wade Peters and Ethan Carll each had two hits for North Clarion. Peters had an RBI.

Softball: Karns City 16 – Clarion 1 (3 innings)

Emily Troese, Brianna Forrest and Hadlee Campbell each had a hit for the Bobcats.

Clarion will host Oil City on Thursday (May 18th).
