Softball: Bobcats Drop Season Finale To Oil City; Much To Look Forward To In The Future For The Young Bobcat Squad

The Clarion Area Bobcat Softball Team lost to the visiting Oil City Oilers 12-0 (five innings), in a non-conference game on Thursday (May 18th). This was the season finale for the Bobcats.

The Oilers scored two runs in the first and second innings, one in the third, five in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Bri Forrest, Alicyn Burford and J.J. Wilson each had a hit for the Bobcats.

With Bri being the only senior, this was a growth year for the Cats and one that they can build on for the future.

Coach Joe Lopez had these fine words about his Bobcat Softball Team:

Our team this year was made up of 11 players, 8 of them sophomores and 1 freshman.

As a first-year softball coach, I was not sure what to expect when taking over the Clarion Area Varsity Softball program.

What I learned is that the Clarion Area softball team is made up of wonderful young ladies who respect the game, respect each other, and play hard. Our goal this season was to have fun and get a little better each day and I feel we have accomplished that.

I am proud of the ladies for working hard despite the adversity this season has brought, and I am looking forward to the future of Clarion Area Varsity Softball.

(Looking Forward To What Lies Ahead Bobcats!!!! Thanks to Coach Lopez for his great comments!!)
