The North Clarion girls had four individual first place wins, while the boys had one first place finish.

Emma Fitzsimmons was a triple winner capturing the girls long jump (13-04), the 100 hurdles (18.1) and the 300 hurdles (57.5), while Abbie Hastings won the 3200 (14:51.3).

Martin Ormeno running the anchor of the 4×400 relay ended up crossing the line just ahead of the Brookville runner.

Christopher Kim finished third in the 200.

Coach Dan Patton had this to say, “Once again, in spite of the weather, these young athletes keep showing up and performing well.

“Emma Fitzsimmons had a big day winning three individual events. I think Emma has only scratched the surface of her track and field ability. She is so coachable. She really listens and wants to get better every time she does an event. Her positive attitude is going to help her have a great track and field career. I think she is going to be a natural leader.

“Abby Hastings showed her mental toughness once again by winning the 3200. She had to run the race without anyone around her, which is a hard thing to do.

“We all knew Dean Sliker was one of our faster guys, but watching him win the 200 by 1.5 seconds was a little eye opening. I told them right before the meet to run fast and turn left and he definitely did that.

“Although, the boys 4×400 did not win, they got second by a tenth of a second. Martin Ormeno, our anchor leg, did an outstanding job fighting until the very end to stay ahead of Brookville. I love seeing that!”

We move on to Oil City on Wednesday, May 10th at 3:00 p.m.

(Keep up the good work, Wolves!!!! Thanks to Christie Datko for her photos and thanks to Coach Patton for his comments!!)
