Bobcats Down Berries In KSAC Volleyball Season Opener

The Clarion Bobcats Defeated the Cranberry Berries, in their Keystone Shortway Athletic Association (KSAC) opener at Clarion, on Tuesday (August 29th).

Clarion won 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-15), with the Clarion Junior Varsity won their match 2-0 (25-20, 25-7).

Varsity: Clarion 3 – Cranberry – 0

The first set saw the score tied at 7-all. But the Bobcats went on a 17-8 run to finish out the 25-15 win.

The second set saw several Bobcats with sustained service point runs, Addiwyn Campbell (3), Kelsey Best (4) and Natalie Durish with the final six points in the 25-14 win.

With the Clarion was down 5-4 in the third, but Hadlee Campbell stepped to the service line and with help from the other Bobcats, delivered 13 straight points for a 17-5 lead. The Berries had a 10-8 scoring edge the rest of the way, but Durish came through with an ace at match point, for the 25-14 Clarion win.

Hadlee Campbell a solid night for Clarion, with 13 service points (1 ace), 7 kills and six digs. Durish had 10 service points (7 aces), 5 digs and an assist. Taylor Alston contributed 7 points (2 aces), 7 kills, 11 assists and two digs. Sophie Babington scored 10 service points (3 aces) and knocked down three kills.

Addiwyn Campbell registered 12 assists, 6 points and a dig. Best delivered 5 points (1 ace) and a dig. Alicyn Burford had a pair of kills and Anna O’toole had a dig.

Bobcats’ Head Coach had this to say, “I am glad to see this young team step onto the court with confidence tonight in their first match of the season. 

We have a lot of contributions from a great core group that is working very hard  each opportunity they get to play together. 

Tonight Natalie Durish did a nice job at the libero position.

Hadlee Campbell, Taylor Alston and Marley Kline contributed to the offense.” 

Junior Varsity: Clarion 2 – Cranberry 0

Kelsey Best scored 15 service points (5 aces), for the Bobcats, to go along with 2 assists and a dig. Anna O’Toole registered 7 service points (2 aces), 4 kills and a dig. Lacey Lauer had 7 service points (2 aces), 2 digs and three kills. Rhiannon Copenhaver recorded 4 service points (2 aces), 5 assist and a dig.

Addiwyn Campbell had 3 assists, a kill and a dig Alivia Diehl had three kills. Lauren Brinkley contributed two kills. Rya Hollingsworth added a service points, Madison Schill delivered a kill, and Aubrey Leonard had a dig.

The Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Redbank Valley tomorrow (Thursday, August 31st).
