Photos by Diane Lutz – Above runners just heading out in the Varsity race

The Clarion Area Bobcats fell to the homestanding Clarion-Limestone Lions in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Boys Cross Country Meet 24-33, on Thursday, September 14th. The Clarion Girls didn’t have enough runners for a team competition.

Clarion Area Head Coach shares this recap:

It was a solid meet, on Thursday, with Clarion-Limestone today!

The runners pushed each other to many Personal Records on the newly redesigned course which is fast and will host the KSAC championship in October.

Congratulations to Jonas Wilshire on his overall win, Cece Bowser on a courageous P.R. Senior Owen Wilson is making big strides, setting a big P.R. Josh Turner and Ben Lambert also showed up and really competed today, giving everything to the finish line!

Two seventh graders blazing a trail for their teams are Blace Easlon and Alissa Brooks, who get better with each meet!

Junior High runners on the course

Jonas Wilshire led all runners, covering the 5K in 18:16. But the strength of the C-L pack was too much behind Jack Craig Ty Rankin and Drake Edmonds who beat Josh Turner in a photo finish with identical times. Craig led all C-L runners in 18:21.

C-L sealed the victory 24-33 taking places 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8.

On the girls side, sophomore returning state qualifier Adisen “Action” Jackson led all runners in 21:34. The Lady Lions swept the Bobcats on the strength of the top three runners, including senior Clara Coulson and Freshman Reise Jackson in 22:36 and 22:58 respectively!

Raven Cunningham was the top finisher for the Bobcats in 27:17, 5th overall.

In the Boys Junior High race, 7th grader Griffin Edmonds used the home course advantage to traverse the 1.8 mile course in 11:13. He ran an aggressive race, leading Bobcat newcomer Blace Easlon from wire to wire. Easlon took 2nd in 11:39. In a great race, C-L, again relying on the strength of the pack, won taking places 1, 3, 4, 6 and 7 for a 21-34 victory.

Thank you Diane Lutz for the pictures!

Clarion will compete at the Bradford Invitational on Saturday (September 16th) where they take on a number of District 9 teams!

(Good work, runners!!!! Thanks to Keith Murtha for his recap and to Diane Lutz for her photos!!)
