The Clarion-Limestone Boys Soccer celebrated two seniors on Senior Night, as part of a Boys-Girls Doubleheader Header with Lions Boys and Bobcats Girls (both co-ops with Clarion Area and Clarion-Limestone) hosting Forest Area at Wiser Field.

Matt Lerch mentioned, “Co-Captain Blaise Cunningham and Jameson McIlwain were announced in front of a large crowd. Cunningham is a lifer in Clarion’s soccer programs starting in Pre-K to Clarion River Valley Strikers and on to high school soccer and Strikers.

“The Lions are coached by head coach Don Montgomery. Clarion Limestone is a co-op team with Clarion Area.”

Clarion-Limestone Lions Boys Soccer Head Coach Don Montgomery had this to say about his seniors, “Jameson McIlwain – This is a player who leads by example. Comes to practice ready to work everyday and steadily does his job on game day. Displayed incredible perseverance after tearing his ACL during his sophomore season.

“He had a new type of ACL surgery in December and rehabbed meticulously to be able to play in the spring season in April. A very driven individual. That will serve him well in life beyond sports.

“Blaise Cunningham – Incredible leader on and off the field. He is a prime example of what you love to see as a coach from a developmental standpoint. He displayed exponential growth as a player from one season to the next. Ultimately becoming a captain and a key piece to our on field  success.

“Both seniors are wonderful young men who have bright futures in front of them. As with each senior group, their personalities and leadership will be missed.”

(Congratulations Jameson and Blaise!!!! Thanks to Matt Lerch for his photos!!)
