Wildcats Down Warriors In D9 Football League Region 1 Matchup

The Central Clarion Wildcats downed the homestanding Moniteau Warriors 70-6, in a District Nine Football League Region 1 contest on Friday (October 6th). With the win, the Wildcats move to 7-0 (5-0 in Region 1).

Central Clarion scored four times in the first quarter. Dawson Smail opened the scoring, with a thirty yard punt return at 9:55. Thomas Uckert was good on the extra point, giving the Wildcats a 7-0 lead. The PAT began a 10-for-10 night for Uckert.

Smail then hauled in a thirty yard pass from quarterback Jace Ferguson for the next score and with Uckert’s kick Central led 14-0 at 8:44 of the first. Then it was Noah Harrison scoring on a one yard run. And with Uckert’s kick Central 21-0, with 1:56 left in the quarter.

The first quarter scoring ended with Brady Quinn carrying it in from three yards out, with one second on the clock and combined with Uckert’s point-after, the Wildcats led 28-0.

Central would put up another twenty-eight points in the second.

Ferguson connected on two touchdown passes to Mason Burford, the first a ten yarder at 7:40, followed by one from sixteen yards out at 3:48 and with the two extra-point kicks, the Wildcats led 42-0.

Ferguson threw his third touchdown pass of the quarter and fourth of the game, when he hooked up with Tommy Smith from thirteen yards out at 1:29. Braylon Beckwith returned a fumble twenty yards for a score at 1:18. With Uckert successful after both touchdowns, the teams went into halftime with Central up 56-0.

The Wildcats’ next score came at 6:42 of the third quarter, with Noah Naser running for a five yard touchdown. With the PAT, Central led 63-0.

Moniteau’s Brendin Sankey threw to Jesse Kohlmeyer for a nine yard touchdown and the score was now 63-6, Central.

The Wildcats would get one more touchdown, with Brendon Wright running in from the four and with Uckert’s tenth PAT, the final was set.

Central Clarion had 423 total yards (206 passing, 217 rushing). Moniteau had 155 total yards (137 passing, 18 rushing.

Jase Ferguson completed12-of-22 passes for 206 yards and 4 touchdowns. Dawson Smail caught 4 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. Brady Quinn had 2 receptions for 50 yards and 2 carries for 45 yards and a score. Mason Burford caught 3 passes for 33 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tommy Smith had two receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown. Noah Harrison and Noah Naser each scored a touchdown

Ethan Rex had 5 carries for 39 yards. Brendan Wright had 4 carries for 28 yards and a touchdown.

Defense

Braylon Beckwith had 9 tackles, including 2 tackles for loss (TFL) and a fumble recovery. Hayden Hindman had 8 tackles (4 TFL) and caused a fumble. Noah Naser had 7 tackles (2 TFL). Noah Harrison had 7 tackles (1 TFL). Charley Hepful had 6 tackles (3 TFL). Matt Alston had 6 tackles (2 TFL) and a fumble recovery. Mason Burford had an interception. Treyven Hooks had an interception. Ethan Rex caused a fumble.
