Bobcats Kameron Kerle And Devon Lauer Finish First And Second In District Nine Class-AA Individual Championship

Clarion Area’s Kameron Kerle won his second straight District Nine Class-AA Boys Golf Individual Championship, while his Bobcat teammate Devon Lauer finished second, on Saturday, October 8th, at Pinecrest Country Club in Brookville.
This was the second day of the tournament, which began with eighteen holes on Monday, October 2nd, at Pinecrest. The top sixteen Class-AA golfers from day one advanced to the Saturday’s action, with the top six moving on to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Championship, to be held at Penn State’s White Course at State College on Monday and Tuesday, October 17th and 18th.

The Bobcats also won the District Nine Class-AA Team Title, their third straight, in Monday’s action at Brookville. That win advanced them to the Sub-Regional at Treasure Lake on Thursday, October 5th, at Treasure Lake, which the Cats also claimed to advance to the State Team Championship Tournament, which will be held on Wednesday, October 19th.
Kameron shot a 141 (69-72), while Devon recorded a 146 (71-75).
Two other Bobcats, James Keenen and Lucas Mitrosky, joined Kameron and Devon in advancing to the final round. James carded a 166 (83-83) for his two-day total, while Lucas registered a 181 (85-96).
Other District Nine Class-AA golfers, joining Kameron and Devon in the State Tournament will be: North Clarion’s Ethan Carll, who shot a 154 (77-77); Keystone’s Sean Karg, who carded a 155 (83-72); Cranberry’s Cayden Baker who recorded a 157 (66-80); and Brookville’s Killian Radel, who also finished with a 157 (78-78).
The District Nine Class-AAA Boys Golf Individual Champion, is Jake Franz, from Bradford, who had a tournament total of 154 (78-76). This is his second straight championship also. St. Marys’ Louie Nedzinski finished with a 163 (79-84). Both will move on to the Class-AAA State Tournament.
Bobcats Head Coach Jay Kerle and Assistant Coach Jackie Kerle said, “We are very proud of how well Kameron and Devon played in the two rounds of districts. They have worked very hard and pushed each other all season.
“Kameron wanted to win back to back D9 titles and it was very exciting to be able to watch him accomplish his goal. Both he and Devon are more than capable of placing in the top 10 at the PIAA state tournament.
“Our whole team has played exceptionally well this season and we are excited to see how we will match up against the best teams in the state. Congratulations to Kameron, Devon and the whole Bobcat golf team!”
