Another Big Award Rolls In For Korrin Burns As NEC Announces Their 2023 All-Conference Team

The Northeast Conference (NEC), an NCAA Division I athletic conference consisting of nine schools from five states (Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts) announced their 2023 Womens All-Conference Volleyball Team on Thursday, November 16th).

Former Clarion Area High School standout Korrin Burns a 5′-11″ sophomore Outside Hitter, For the St. Francis University Red Flash, was named to the First Team. She is joined on the First Team by fellow Red Flash Outside Hitter, 5′-10″ senior Skye Eicher from Frazier High School, in Rostraver Township.

The NEC press release shared these big words about the duo:

Saint Francis U packed a dangerous one-two punch in outside hitters Korrin Burns (Clarion, PA/Clarion Area) and Skye Eicher (Rostraver Township, PA/Frazier), and as a result, the Red Flash landed two first team honorees for just the third time in program history. Combining for six NEC Player of the Week awards while ranking one-two in the loop in kills per set with 3.63 and 3.51, respectively, the duo anchored a potent Saint Francis U offense that heads into the postseason ranked first in the NEC in points per set (15.98) and kills per set (12.52).

The St. Francis press release added some more insight into the great season the two are having (St. Francis is competing in the NCAA Division I Round of 64 Championship Brackets, facing Farleigh Dickinson in their bracket semifinal match, this Friday (November 17th) at 2:00 p.m.): 

A Clarion, Pa. native, Burns is a leader at the Saint Francis and Northeast Conference levels. She leads the conference in the kills per set with 3.63. She tallied 312 kills in the regular season, putting her second on the team and third in the conference. The sophomore is tied for first in the NEC for points per set with 4.00. Defensively, she has recorded 21 blocks and 225 digs.

Skye Eicher

From Rostraver Township, Pa., Eicher has been a key member of the Red Flash all season. She leads Saint Francis and the NEC in kills with 340. The senior is also the leader in points for both the team and the conference with 388 points, tying with Burns for 4.00 points per set. Eicher recorded 255 digs in the regular season, which is second on the team.

The 2023 NEC Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Top Award Winners include:

Player of the Year – Tatijana Fucka, a Middle Blocker from Farleigh Dickinson; Defensive Player of the Year – Alasha Colin, a Libero from Long Island University; Setter of the Year and Rookie of the Year – Gaby Zovko, a Setter from Sacred Heart; and Coach of the Year – David Nguyen, from Farleigh Dickinson University.
