Brenna Campbell And Mary Washington Teammates And Coaches Finish Second In C2C Conference Championship Tournament, Awarded At-Large Berth To NCAA Division III Regional Tournament

Former Clarion Area Volleyball standout, Brenna Campbell and her University of Mary Washington Eagles teammates and coaches placed second in the Coast to Coast (C2C) Championship at Salisbury University, in Salisbury Maryland last weekend, Friday and Saturday, November 10th and 11th.

UMW has been awarded an At-Large Bid to this week’s NCAA Division III Regional Qualifying Rounds, which will run Thursday through Saturday, November 16th through 18th. Mary Washington will compete in the regional that will be held at Juniata College, in Huntingdon.

Teams advancing from regionals will compete in the Division III National Tournament, which runs from Wednesday through Saturday, November 29th through December 22nd, at Claremont, California, hosted by Claremont McKenna and Harvey Mudd-Scripps.

The Eagles won their Friday C2C semifinal in straight sets (25-20, 25-23, 25-12) over the UC Santa Cruz (California) Banana Slugs. Brenna, a 5′-5″ Hitter, had 12 assists in that contest.

In the C2C Championship match, on Saturday, Mary Washington dropped a tight decision to Salisbury, falling to the Sea Gulls in five sets (25-20, 23-25, 22-25, 25-11, 15-13). Brenna had 21 assist in the match.

Mary Washington will open Regional play against the Hunter College Hawks, from Manhattan at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The winner will play in the Regional semifinal at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
