Girls Basketball: Bobcats Down Lions

The Clarion Area Bobcats downed the visiting Clarion-Limestone Lions 65-35, in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference girls’ basketball matchup on Thursday (January 25th).

The Bobcats led after each quarter, 13-12 after one, 28-18 at the half and 43-23 at the three quarter mark.

Sophie Babington led the Bobcats with a game-high 21 points, with all her points coming from three-point land, seven in all. Two other Cats scored in double figures. Taylor Alston scored 14 points and Marley Kline followed with eleven. Gia Babington connected on three treys for nine points.

Natalie Durish contributed 5 points, Lacey Lauer had 3 points on a basket from long range and Alivia Diehl registered two points.

Hannah Beggs led the Lions with eleven points.

Bobcats coach Sam Heeter had this to say, “After an underwhelming first half, the girls came out and played super hard and did a great job of knocking down shots. We’re looking to keep building on the momentum we’ve gained and just focus on us everyday to be ready for post season.”

Clarion-Limestone won the Junior Varsity contest 32-18. They led 10-3 after one, 20-6 at halftime and 24-15 after three.

Kelsey Best led Clarion with seven points, including a three-pointer. Abbey Felmlee had two treys for six points.

Lilly Shirey scored 4 points and Lacey Lauer had one point.

The Bobcats are scheduled to host Brookville on Monday (January 29th).
