Girls Basketball: Bobcats Fall To North Clarion

The Clarion Area Bobcats fell to homestanding North Clarion 33-24, in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference (KSAC) basketball game on Tuesday (January 9th).

The Wolves held a one point 7-6 lead after one. A 4-3 Bobcat edge in the second sent the teams into halftime tied at ten. North Clarion posted a 14-3 edge in the third and the teams headed to the last stanza with North Clarion up 24-13. An 11-9 Clarion edge in the fourth set the final.

Gia Babington and Sophie Babington led the Bobcats’ scoring with six points each. Sophie’s points came on a pair of treys. Natalie Durish followed with five points.

Lacey Lauer had 3 points, on a bucket from beyond the arc. Taylor Alston and Alivia Diehl contributed two points each.

Lili Homan led North Clarion with 16 points and Akeela Greenawalt had eight. Both had a pair of 3-point baskets.

The Clarion Junior Varsity won their game 18-15.

Clarion led 4-3 after the first period, but after a 6-1 Wolves’ advantage in the second, the halftime score was 9-5 North Clarion.

The Bobcats had a big third quarter, outscoring the Wolves 9-2, sending the game to the final quarter with Clarion up 14-11. Each team put up 4 points in the fourth, to set the final.

Lacey Lauer led the Bobcats with a game-high sixteen points. Lily Shirey scored the other two points.

Jadyn Reisinger led North Clarion with nine points. Christina Hicks had 4 points and McKenzie Mellon had two points.

The Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Karns City tomorrow (Thursday, January 11th).
