Bobcats Fall To Crusaders In District Nine Boys Class-1A Championship On Super Saturday (March 2nd), At Tippin, Will Now Face Southern Fulton At Home In First Round Of PIAA State Playoffs This Friday (March 8th) At 7 P.M.

The Clarion Area Bobcats fell to the Elk County Catholic Crusaders 75-54, in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District Nine Boys Class-1A Championship, on Saturday (March 2nd). The game was part of the Super Saturday event, held at PennWest-Clarion University’s Tippin Gymnasium, which featured six championship games, 1A, 2A and 3A for both Boys and Girls.
The Crusaders held a 13-8 lead after one period. Kam Merrell had four of the Bobcats twelve points.
The Bobcats were down by just three points, 29-26 at halftime. Bryce Brinkley and Gabe Simko combined for twelve of Clarion’s sixteen points in the second, with each scoring six points. Brinkley’s points came on three treys; he had four for the game.
With a 24-10 edge in the third ECC led 53-36 heading to the final stanza, where a 22-18 Crusader advantage set the final.

Brinkley and Simko scored eleven points each. Devon Lauer also scored in double-figures with ten points, including a three-pointer.
Dawson Smail had 7 points and Merrell scored six points.
Owen Kriebel had a trey. Tanner Miller, Dauntae Girvan and Derek Smail had two points each.
The (13-9) Bobcats will now host Southern Fulton (14-11) the District 5 Number 3 team (14-11),on Friday (March 8th) at 7 p.m.
