Baseball: Bobcats Down Raiders In Five Innings

The Clarion Area Bobcats defeated the visiting Brookville Raiders, 14-2, in District Nine baseball action, in five innings at Clarion County Park on Friday (April 19th).

Neither team scored in the first. Clarion held Brookville off the scoreboard in the second and third, while scoring two runs and six runs, respectively in each for an 8-0 lead. The Raiders scored one in the top of the fourth, while the Bobcats answered with six more runs in the bottom of the inning, for a 14-1 lead.

Brookville added another run in the fifth to set the final.

Devon Lauer had a big day at the plate for the Bobcats, with a homerun, a double, 5 RBIs and three runs scored. He also was the winning pitcher.

Derek Smail had a pair of hits, 3 runs scored and two runs batted in. Bryce Brinkley had a pair of hits, an RBI and two runs scored. Noah Harrison contributed a double, drove in a pair of runners and scored once. Matt Alston singled and had three RBIs.

Tanner Miller and Dawson Smail each singled and scored twice

Hayden Weber singled and Dylan Smail scored a run.

Owen Fleming Doubled and scored a run for the Raiders, while Jack Pete and Kai Kaltenbaugh each singled and scored a run.
