Bobcats Down Gremlins In KSAC Baseball Action

The visiting Clarion Area Bobcats, downed the Karns City Gremlins, 5-1 , in Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference baseball action, at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler, on Monday (April 29th).

This win comes on the heels of the Bobcats 3-3 tie game in the against the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals, in the fourth and last game of the 2024 “High School Showdown,” at PNC Park on Saturday (April 27th), highlighting some quality teams from Western Pennsylvania.

The Bobcats were the PIAA State Class-1A Champions and the Cardinals were the runner-up after, DCC the crown in 2022.That matchup saw each team score one run in the first and two in the fifth. Each game had a two hour time limit. Clarion Sports Zone will post an article on some of the great happenings during that event, later this week.

Karns City scored their run in the top of the first inning, in the game at Pullman. The Bobcats pushed two runs across in the second and three more in the third, in their 5-1 win.

Devon Lauer had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run for the Bobcats. Tanner Miller doubled and scored a run.

Bryce Brinkley had a pair of hits and an RBI. Derek Smail had a two bagger and scored a run. Dawson Smail singled and drove in a run. Dauntae Girvan and Nathan Frederick each scored a run and Hayden Weber drove in a run.

Lauer started the game on the mound. He went 3 innings, striking out 6, while giving up just 1 hit and one earned run. Matt Alston came on in relief and worked the final four innings, to pick up the win. He allowed no hits and no runs, while striking out 9 batters and walking two.
