Softball: Wildcats Drop Doubleheader To Bulldogs

The Central Clarion Wildcats softball team dropped a doubleheader to the Redbank Valley Bulldogs, at Clarion-Limestone Sports Complex on Monday, April 29th.

The Bulldogs won the first game 14-4, while claiming the second contest, 13-2 in five innings, a game the teams decided to add, in which Redbank was designated as the home team.

Game 1

The Bulldogs scored two runs in the top of the first, with the Wildcats tying it, with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. Neither team scored in the second.

With a 2-1 Redbank edge in the third, which they followed with a 5-1 fourth inning advantage and a 1-0 fifth inning edge, the Bulldogs held a 10-4 edge. Two unanswered Redbank runs in the sixth and seventh set the final.

Sam Simpson had two hits and drove in three runs for the Wildcats. Abby Knapp Greeley singled twice, scored once and had an RBI. Jenna Dunn singled and scored twice.

Alicyn Burford had a single and Emiliegh Mahle scored a run.

Game 2

Central Clarion scored a run in the top of the first, with Redbank plating three runners in the bottom of the inning. Neither team scored in the second. The Bulldogs scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 7-1 lead. A 6-1 Redbank advantage in the fourth moved their lead to 13-2. They then held the Wildcats off the scoreboard in the top of the fifth, to close out the game.

Simpson singled, scored a run and drove in a run for Central Clarion. Alyssa Wiant had a hit, scored a run and had an RBI. Jesalyn Girt singled and drove in a run and J.J. Wilson had a hit.
