Roundup: Bobcat Baseball Team Downs Falcon-Knights; Wildcat Softball Falls To Cranberry

Both the Clarion Area Bobcats Baseball and Central Clarion Wildcats Softball teams were in action on Tuesday, April 16th.

The Bobcats downed the visiting Union/A-C Valley Falcon-Knights 12-0, in four innings, at Clarion County Park, while the Wildcats fell to Cranberry 15-1, in four innings at Heindl Field in DuBois.

Baseball

The Bobcats scored two runs in the first, three in the second and seven in the fourth in their 12-0 win.

Dawson Smail had 3 hits, scored 3 runs and drove in a pair of runs, for Clarion. Bruce Brinkley collected 3 hits, scored twice and had an RBI. Dauntae Girvan doubled, singled and crossed the plate twice. Devon Lauer tripled. He scored a run and drove two runners in.

Matt Alston singled, scored twice and had an RBI. Derek Smail singled and scored once. Tanner Miller doubled. Dylan Smail scored a run. Hayden Weber drove in a run.

Miller picked up the win, going four innings, giving up just two hits. He struck out 6 and walked four. Girvan pitched one, no hit inning.

Trey Fleming doubled and Zach Cooper singled for the Falcon-Knights.

The Bobcats are scheduled to host Moniteau on Thursday (April 18th).

Softball

Central Clarion was the home team for this matchup at Heindl Field.

Cranberry scored nine runs in the top of the first, one in the third and 6 in the fourth. The Wildcat’s run came in the bottom of the first.

Central Clarion had five hits, coming from five different players, Abby Knapp-Greeley, Samantha Simpson, Kayley Smith, Brinley Kiskadden and Alexa Kitchen. Knapp-Greeley scored the Wildcats’ run.

Jayden Shumaker singled, doubled and drove in four runs for the Berries.

The Wildcats are scheduled to host Karns City, at Clarion-Limestone on Thursday (April 18th).
