Central Clarion Wildcats Softball Coach Joe Lopez shared his thoughts on the team’s fine inaugural season in this Season Summary:
The first season of Wildcats softball season was a success. This success is a credit to the players, especially the upperclassmen. These girls were a joy to be around, and they set the tone for the future. Our seniors (Knapp-Greeley, Troese, Wiant) helped us establish a culture and expectations, and the future is bright because they laid the foundation.
Our schedule early on was a tough one. We played games against bigger schools and better competition, but the girls kept their heads up and kept working hard. This paid off towards the end of the year as we began to play our best ball, winning 4 of our final 5 games. Three Wildcats were honored by the KSAC with all-conference awards – Alyssa Wiant (third team 1B), Emileigh Mahle (second team OF), Jesalyn Girt (second team DH) and all players gained valuable innings and experience.
Many ladies showed statistical improvements from years prior, growing their softball skills throughout the season. With only 3 graduating seniors, 7 everyday starters will return next year for the Wildcats along with a solid incoming freshman class.
(Congratulations on a great Inaugural Season Wildcats Softball!!!! Thanks to Coach Lopez for this summary and Karl Jacobson for the use of the Wildcat Logo!!!!)
